WINDOWS VISTA USERS

If you are using any version of the Windows Vista operating system, in order to ensure a proper upgrade to VT Trader 1.9.0.1 you may first need to disable Windows Vista's User Access Control (UAC) feature for the active Windows Vista user account.

Note: Users installing VT Trader 1.9.0.1 for the first time from a fresh download should not need to disable UAC to properly install VT Trader. UAC only affects the upgrade process from previous versions of VT Trader to the most current 1.9.0.1 release.

To disable UAC you may perform the following steps:

1) Locate and select the Start Menu icon; this is often the Windows flag icon located at the far-left side of the Windows Vista taskbar.

2) From the Start Menu, choose the "Control Panel" option; this will open the Windows Control Panel. Using the default viewing mode of the Control Panel, the available options will be grouped into categories. Locate and select the "User Accounts and Family Safety" group. Note: If you're using the "Classic View" of the Control Panel, you'll need to locate and select the "User Accounts" option and skip directly to step #4.

3) After selecting the "User Accounts and Family Safety" group a new group of options will be displayed. Locate and select the main "User Accounts" option. Selecting this option should display a new page with the title "Make changes to your user account".

4) From the "Make changes to your account" page, locate and select the "Turn User Account Control on or off" option. Windows Vista will display a warning window prompting you for approval to continue or cancel the action you're about to take. Please select the [Continue] button to proceed.

5) After selecting the [Continue] button, a new page will be displayed that contains a single option entitled, "Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer". Remove the checkmark from the option and select the [OK] button.

6) Follow the remaining prompts to reboot your PC in order for this change to take effect.

After disabling UAC and rebooting the PC, you may proceed to upgrade VT Trader to version 1.9.0.1. To re-enable Windows Vista UAC, you may follow the same steps as above, except that you will replace the checkmark next to the "Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer" option in step #5.
